We represent both landowners and governmental entities in the area of property condemnation and eminent domain law. Eminent domain involves the acquisition of private property by public entities for public projects or by private parties for private use under specific circumstances. We have been involved in major projects throughout metropolitan Atlanta and Northeast Georgia.
When private property is taken by eminent domain, the owner is entitled to just and adequate compensation. Just and adequate compensation in Georgia includes payment to the owner for the reasonable market value of the property acquired as well as for damages to the remainder known as consequential damages. We have garnered settlements and jury verdicts well in excess of the initial value established by the governmental entity. Our established relationships with well-seasoned expert witnesses in appraisal and engineering further advance our client’s interests.
